A Federal High Court has ruled that the FCCPC has the legal authority to investigate airline ticket pricing complaints, dismissing Air Peace’s suit challenging that power.
Court Affirms FCCPC’s Power to Probe Airfare Pricing
Air Peace’s legal challenge against the FCCPC has crashed. An Abuja Federal High Court, in a June 29 judgment, ruled that the Commission’s investigative powers under the FCCPA are separate from price regulation, dismissing the airline’s suit. Justice B.F.M. Nyako held that FCCPC acted within its rights when it sought pricing information from Air Peace following complaints about fare hikes in December 2024. The judgment echoes an earlier April ruling by Justice James Omotosho on the same issue. FCCPC boss Tunji Bello welcomed the decision, stressing that investigating complaints is not the same as fixing or regulating prices. (Source: Tribune Online)
