The Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council has called for a ₦154,000 minimum wage and a 120 per cent salary increase for Nigerian civil servants to address rising living costs.
The Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council has demanded a new minimum salary of ₦154,000 for public servants, representing a 120 per cent increase, citing the rising cost of living and economic hardship faced by workers across the country.
In a letter to the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the council said inflation, high fuel prices and increasing costs of food, housing, healthcare and transportation have severely reduced workers’ purchasing power and affected morale within the public service.
The council urged the government to begin immediate negotiations through the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission to review salaries and allowances across ministries and agencies, while also commending Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving full gratuity payments for retiring federal civil servants.
