Gunmen who abducted a family travelling to their mother’s burial along the Otukpo-Ogobia Road in Benue State have released the driver, one sibling and the deceased woman’s corpse, but are still holding two siblings and demanding a N30 million ransom for their release, according to Daily Post and Idoma Voice.

Gunmen ambushed and abducted a family along the Otukpo-Ogobia Road in Benue State after their vehicle broke down while they were travelling from Abuja to Oklenyi in Okpokwu Local Government Area for their late mother’s burial, Daily Post and Idoma Voice report.
The kidnappers have since made partial releases — freeing the driver, handing over the deceased woman’s corpse and releasing one of her children. The remains have been taken to Okpoga, where funeral rites are already underway. But two siblings remain in captivity, with the abductors demanding N30 million for their release.
Family members told Idoma Voice that relatives are working urgently to raise the ransom while simultaneously appealing to security agencies to intensify rescue efforts. The development has left the family in an agonising position — relieved to have recovered their mother’s body and proceeded with her burial, yet consumed by fear for the two siblings still being held.
As of the time of filing this report, the Benue State Police Command had issued no official statement on the incident.
