Mohammed Badaru, former minister of defence, has denied an online publication alleging he resigned because he “cannot stand and watch the US and Tinubu government bombing our brothers in the forest.” In a statement, he described the claim as “malicious, false and baseless,” saying it was fabricated to damage his reputation and create conflict between him and President Bola Tinubu.
He maintained that his real reasons for resigning had already been formally communicated to the president and made public, stressing that “any suggestion of an alternative or inflammatory motive is a complete falsehood.” Badaru reaffirmed his loyalty to Tinubu, the APC, and the government’s agenda as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 elections. Following his resignation, Christopher Musa was appointed and confirmed as the new defence minister.
