ADEBUTU ACCUSES ALL 36 GOVERNORS OF ALLEGEDLY DIVERTING LG FUNDS
PDP chieftain Oladipupo Adebutu has accused all 36 state governors of embezzling local government funds, insisting none is exempt from blame. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Adebutu said governors have consistently diverted council allocations despite the Supreme Court’s ruling on local government financial autonomy, Daily Post reported.
He urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to ensure the apex court’s judgment is fully implemented, arguing that local councils should receive their allocations directly to strengthen governance at the grassroots. Adebutu maintained that financial autonomy remains critical to improving service delivery and accountability in local government administration across the country.
He made the remarks while discussing the implementation of the Supreme Court’s judgment on council funding.
