Family of slain Ogbomoso teacher urges public to stop sharing murder footage

The family of slain Ogbomoso teacher Michael Oyedokun has appealed to the public to stop circulating graphic videos of his killing, describing the footage as deeply traumatising.

The family of Michael Oyedokun, the teacher killed by bandits in captivity in Oyo State, has appealed to the public to stop sharing graphic videos of his murder on social media.

Oyedokun was among teachers abducted from Community High School, Ahoro-Esiele in Oriire Local Government Area on Friday during attacks on schools in Ogbomoso.

In a statement shared online, the family described the circulation of the footage as “deeply traumatizing,” especially for the late teacher’s children and elderly relatives.

“We truly appreciate the love, concern, and sympathy shown towards our family during this painful time,” the statement read.

“However, the continuous circulation of those videos and images is deeply traumatizing for us as a family.”

The family urged the public to blur disturbing images or use officially released photographs instead while mourning continues.
