Nigeria’s top lenders are holding firm on physical banking, expanding branch networks even as digital adoption soars.

The 10 largest banks by branch network in 2026 are:

  1. Access Bank – 772 branches.
  2. FirstBank – 653 branches.
  3. Zenith Bank – 501 branches.
  4. United Bank for Africa (UBA) – 419 branches.
  5. Union Bank – 316 branches.
  6. Fidelity Bank – 255 branches.
  7. FCMB – 240 branches.
  8. Wema Bank – 170 branches.
  9. Sterling Bank – 169 branches.
  10. Polaris Bank – 141 branches.

The ranking, compiled from 2025 annual reports, investor presentations and branch locator data, shows banks are prioritising nationwide access and financial inclusion alongside digital growth, Nairametrics reported.
