U.S. Congressman Riley Moore has warned that Washington may take stronger action against Nigeria, including sanctions, if the government fails to protect Christians he says are being targeted for genocide.
According to Sahara Reporters, U.S. Congressman Riley Moore has declared that America must intervene to protect Christians facing what he describes as “genocide” in Nigeria. Speaking in an interview with conservative commentator Michael Knowles, Moore said: “We’re a Christian nation…and I think we have an obligation to do something here.”
Moore referenced Nigeria’s designation as a “Country of Particular Concern,” noting it unlocks sanctions and visa restrictions. He also raised the possibility of military escalation, saying: “I do believe that we are going to start to continue to engage in a more forceful manner on this if the Nigerians can’t figure this out.” Moore previously stated that “increased American support is contingent on the Nigerian government doing more to defend Christians.”
