APC Shifts Reps Primary To Saturday

The All Progressives Congress on Thursday postponed its House of Representatives primary election earlier scheduled for Friday to Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, disclosed this in a statement issued late Thursday.

Morka, however, stated that the previously announced dates for Senate, governorship, presidential and state Houses of Assembly primaries remain unchanged.


Makinde Formally Joins 2027 Presidential Race

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Thursday formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under an alliance involving the Peoples Democratic Party and the Allied Peoples’ Movement.

Makinde made the declaration during a rally at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, attended by a large crowd of supporters.

He said the PDP/APM alliance would focus on rebuilding institutions, economic growth, job creation, healthcare, education, infrastructure and security.


Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper While Collecting N10m Ransom

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper allegedly involved in the abduction of a resident identified as Alhaji Bagudu.

The suspect was reportedly apprehended while attempting to collect a N10m ransom demanded from the victim’s family.

Bagudu was said to have been kidnapped from his residence in Ilowa Village and held hostage in Otefon forest in Atiba Local Government Area of the state.


Court Remands Pastor Over Alleged Rape Of Minor

A Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Gwarimpa, Abuja, on Thursday ordered the remand of the founder of Prophetic Victory Voice of Fire Ministry, Pastor Amos Isah, over the alleged rape of a 14-year-old church member.

Justice Modupe Osho-Adebiyi directed that the 39-year-old cleric remain in custody pending the submission of his previous bail records.

The case was subsequently adjourned.


Gbajabiamila Says He Nearly Lost Position Over Lagos Assembly Crisis

The Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Thursday revealed that he almost lost his position during the political crisis that rocked the Lagos State House of Assembly last year.

Gbajabiamila linked the situation to the alleged involvement of actor-turned-politician Desmond Elliot during the speakership tussle involving Mudashiru Obasa.
