Tinubu considers 30-day visa-free entry for Rwandans

Tinubu says Nigeria may grant Rwandans visa-free entry for 30 days as both countries push deeper economic and regional integration.

President Bola Tinubu has said Nigeria will “seriously consider” granting Rwandan citizens 30-day visa-free entry to strengthen bilateral relations and promote Pan-African integration.

The proposal followed talks with Paul Kagame in Kigali, where Tinubu is attending the Africa CEO Forum. According to a statement by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the move would mirror Rwanda’s existing visa-free access for Nigerians.

“In reviewing consular matters, President Tinubu stated that Nigeria will seriously consider reciprocating Rwanda’s 30-day visa-free status for Nigerians in the spirit of Pan-Africanism,” the presidency stated.

Both leaders agreed to revive a 2021 joint commission to boost cooperation, while discussions also covered trade, tourism, and anti-corruption. They reaffirmed support for African Continental Free Trade Area to enhance regional commerce.
