President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed all political appointees intending to contest elective positions in the 2027 general elections to resign their appointments on or before March 31, 2026. The directive was announced in a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The move, according to the government, is aimed at ensuring compliance with electoral laws and safeguarding the integrity of the political process ahead of the 2027 polls.

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, stating he would actively work for the President’s second-term bid.
