FCT Poll: PDP chairmanship candidate withdraws for APC after Wike’s intercession

PDP chairmanship candidate Julius Adamu has stepped down from the Bwari Area Council race and endorsed APC’s Joshua Musa after intervention by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

The Peoples Democratic Party chairmanship candidate for Bwari Area Council, Julius Adamu, has withdrawn from the February 21, 2026 Federal Capital Territory election and endorsed the All Progressives Congress candidate, Joshua Musa, following the intervention of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. The announcement was made at a gathering in Bwari attended by party supporters and political figures, where Wike stated, “We have agreed that he will stand down for Joshua.”

Adamu described his decision as the result of “deep consultation” with Wike, adding that he and Musa were “brothers” and that it would “not be nice for two brothers to kill themselves over one business,” urging his supporters to back Musa in the poll. The development comes days after the Supreme Court affirmed Musa as the valid APC candidate and underscores Wike’s influential role in FCT politics despite remaining a member of the PDP.
