A former aide to late President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to reconsider the February 20 and March 6, 2027 general election dates, noting they fall within Ramadan and could affect Muslim voter participation.
In a post on X, Ahmad described his appeal as “a respectful observation,” stating, “The proposed dates fall within the holy month of Ramadan.” He added, “Given the significant Muslim population in this country, it may be worthwhile to reconsider the timing to ensure broader participation and convenience for all citizens.”
