FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has described himself as the most criticized political figure in Nigeria, second only to President Bola Tinubu. Speaking at an event marking his 58th birthday, Wike stated that the relentless insults and opposition from critics do not deter him. He maintained that his primary focus remains on delivering tangible results for the people through his administrative duties.
The Minister reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to President Tinubu, clarifying that his support dates back to 2022. He dismissed the actions of his detractors as “hypocrisy and deceit,” particularly those who only champion the plight of the masses after losing power. Wike emphasized that his political decisions are rooted in the principles of character and integrity rather than populist sentiment or temporary convenience.
Reflecting on the 2023 elections, Wike recalled his lone stance within the main opposition party to support a southern candidate for the presidency. He argued that this choice was based on the necessity of equity, fairness, and justice for the nation. Wike noted, “I’m Nigeria’s most abused politician after Tinubu,” yet insisted that no amount of public backlash would change his political trajectory or loyalty.
