Military sources say only confirmed terrorist combatants and their logistics hubs were destroyed during recent U.S. Navy precision strikes in North West Nigeria. The operation, carried out jointly with the Nigerian military, was described as successful and focused strictly on verified targets linked to terrorist activities in the region.
“It was a successful joint operation with the U.S. military. We provided the targets, they conducted the strikes. Right now we are mopping up,” a military source said. Intelligence reportedly revealed a large movement of armed terrorists and bandits from Mali and Burkina Faso toward Sokoto, Zamfara, Niger and Katsina states.
According to the Pentagon, at least one tomahawk missile was launched from a U.S. naval platform near Ghana, supported by long-range drones to ensure precision. Military sources stressed the operation was “carefully planned and highly selective,” underscoring growing international cooperation to curb transnational terrorism in North West Nigeria.
