Nigerians affected by Hepatitis B, C in 12 states

A 2025 report from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare indicates 12,060 Nigerians tested positive for Hepatitis B and C across 12 states. These cases were identified from over 210,000 individuals screened.

Globally, viral hepatitis is a leading cause of death. In Nigeria, 9,066 were HBV-reactive, yet only 179 of those needing treatment received it, revealing a treatment gap.
