NUT threatens strike over Kwara teachers’ unpaid allowances

The National Union of Teachers (NUT) has criticized the Kwara State Government for neglecting teacher welfare. They accuse the government of failing to implement the 27.5% Teachers Specific Allowance and the National Harmonized Teachers Retirement Age Act, 2022.

A letter signed by NUT’s national leadership warns of a potential strike if these issues, outstanding since 2023, are not resolved. The union urged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to convene an emergency meeting before December 13, 2025.
