Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested five suspects for fabricating and circulating a false kidnapping incident in Oron Local Government Area. Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, stated these actions were reckless and dangerous, undermining public confidence. The suspects have been charged in court.
Azare also urged youth leaders to promote truth, engage in dialogue with investors, and adhere to new directives on masquerade activities. He issued a strong warning against jungle justice, stressing that those involved in mob action would face prosecution. Youth leaders pledged cooperation with the police.
