The Jigawa State Government has allocated N2 billion for disaster response and relief efforts in its 2026 fiscal year budget. This was announced by Hannafi Yakubu, Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), after defending the agency’s budget before the House of Assembly Committee on Special Duties in Dutse on Thursday.
Yakubu underscored SEMA’s role as the coordinating body, working with other agencies during various emergencies like floods and fire outbreaks. The agency plans to review committee recommendations to improve operations, as other ministries and departments are also defending their budgets before the Jigawa State House of Assembly.
