IPOB praises Abia, Sokoto governors for Kanu visit

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has commended governors Alex Otti of Abia State and Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State for their “historic” and “surprising” visit to pro-Biafran leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in Sokoto prison. IPOB spokesman Emma Powerful declared that Kanu’s extraordinary rendition from Kenya, prolonged detention, and subsequent transfer amid severe insecurity constitute an extreme provocation to both IPOB and the Ndigbo community.

Powerful alleged the Federal Government employed false-flag operations in the South-East and used a “prejudiced legal system” to imprison Kanu, whose “offence” was defending his people and seeking self-determination. IPOB views Kanu as a “prisoner of conscience” and demands a thorough independent investigation into the alleged injustices, while reaffirming its commitment to a non-violent Biafra self-determination initiative.
