President Bola Tinubu has forwarded an expanded list of 65 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation. The request, read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary, includes 34 career and 31 non-career diplomats. This marks an increase from the 32 names previously released by the presidency.
Notable non-career nominees include Senators Ita Enang, Jimoh Ibrahim, and Folasade Bent, along with Segun Ige. The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, which already screened three earlier nominees, will now review the new additions within a week, ensuring thorough legislative oversight.
