Former Senator Kabiru Marafa has backed President Trump’s threat of possible U.S. military action in Nigeria, saying it could push the government into taking more decisive steps against escalating insecurity. Speaking on Channels Television, Marafa said, “I strongly support the President of America, Donald Trump, for issuing that threat,” adding that while sovereignty matters, “of what importance is sovereignty to a dead man?” He argued that Trump’s remarks have renewed global attention on attacks against Christians, following the former U.S. president’s warning that Washington may “go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists.”
Marafa insisted that the protection of citizens should come first, noting that the Nigerian government is now under pressure to respond more forcefully. Meanwhile, the U.S. has labeled Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged religious freedom violations.
