The royal family of Oba Kamilu Salami, the Ojibara of Bayagan in Ifelodun Local Council of Kwara State, has refuted reports that the monarch was rescued by local hunters, with family spokesperson Rafiu Lawal stating: “I wish to formally address and debunk the false information circulating across various media houses and social media platforms, claiming that our monarch, Kamilu Salami, has been rescued by local hunters… I spoke with Kabiyesi on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, and he confirmed that he is still in the custody of his abductors,” adding an appeal for accurate reporting to prevent misinformation and tension.
Salami was kidnapped from his farm on Saturday, with abductors demanding ₦150 million ransom, while in a separate development, 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Ekiti Council area, were rescued through joint efforts involving the Federal Government, Kwara State Government and the Office of the National Security Adviser, reunited with their families after medical care, and received with celebrations, with local officials and community leaders expressing gratitude to security agencies as residents voiced renewed hope in coordinated security operations, despite noting that the earlier attack left three people dead and six injured.
