Pastor Ashimolowo calls for NYSC members to be trained to fight insecurity

Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo has urged that NYSC corps members be trained to support Nigeria’s fight against insecurity, while backing President Tinubu’s recent security initiatives and cautioning against state police.

Cleric and KICC founder Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo has called on Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration in combating insecurity by training NYSC corps members as part of national security efforts.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Ashimolowo said, “Nigeria needs a turnaround. Let’s stand behind our president now that he has called for more policing, more soldiers. All our NYSC guys should be trained.” He praised Nigerians as “the toughest, strongest, boldest and fearless,” and highlighted that strong leadership can restore national pride.

While endorsing Tinubu’s nationwide security state of emergency and recruitment of additional police and military personnel, he warned that state police could be misused as “a personal army for somebody who will begin to use it at some point to terrorize others.”

Nigeria continues to face mass abductions, banditry, and terrorism, prompting urgent calls for innovative security strategies.
