Woman, 40, nabbed for alleged child trafficking in Niger State
The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old woman, Victoria Ebunoha Chukwumezie, for allegedly trafficking three children in Diko junction, Gurara Local Government Area.
Police spokesman SP Wasiu Abiodun said in a statement on Wednesday that operatives of the Gawu-Babangida Division apprehended the suspect on November 5 at about 5 p.m. after she was seen with three children suspected to have been abducted. “During interrogation, she stated that she took the children, aged two to three years, from Lambata and was taking them to Abuja for care,” Abiodun said.
The children — identified as Kazeem (3), Ya’amadu (2) and Idris (2) — have been reunited with their parents, while investigations continue.
In a separate case, police also arrested one Favour Udeaja, 21, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle in Bida and attempting to sell it in Minna. He remains in custody for prosecution.
