The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has told troops of Operation Hadin Kai that the next phase of the North-East campaign will be decisive.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has urged troops of Operation Hadin Kai in the North-East to prepare for a decisive offensive against Boko Haram and ISWAP. Addressing soldiers in Maiduguri on Friday, Shaibu said the Nigerian Army is entering a critical stage of counter-insurgency operations.
“You have been training to defeat the terrorists that have been disturbing the North-East. This time, you are going to do it differently. All combat enablers have been provided,” he said.
Shaibu emphasised that the current generation of troops must surpass the achievements of their predecessors. He assured soldiers of improved welfare, including better allowances, medical care, and accommodation.
“This is your own time,” he added.
The Army Chief also visited wounded soldiers, inspected new drone and armoured platforms, and commissioned new accommodation facilities before returning to Abuja.
