Six African nations open doors with visa-free travel for all Africans

Six African countries—Seychelles, The Gambia, Benin, Rwanda, Ghana, and Kenya—now offer full visa-free entry to all African nationals, significantly easing travel and boosting the continent’s economic and cultural integration efforts under the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

Six African countries are leading a major push for continental unity and mobility by granting full visa-free entry to all African nationals, fulfilling a key objective of the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
Seychelles, The Gambia, and Benin were among the first to eliminate visa requirements, allowing citizens from across the continent to visit freely. Rwanda and Ghana followed suit, with Ghana implementing its policy in January 2025 to reinforce its commitment to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Most recently, Kenya joined the movement in July 2025, lifting visa requirements for all African countries except Libya and Somalia due to security concerns. This move supports Kenya’s “open skies” initiative and strengthens its role as a regional hub.

The collective policies, which also include Rwanda’s visa-on-arrival access, are making travel “easier, cheaper, and more accessible” for tourists, entrepreneurs, students, and artists. With these nations paving the way, the vision of “a borderless Africa is becoming a reality,” opening up greater opportunities for collaboration and exploration continent-wide.
