Hamas signals conditional acceptance of Trump’s Gaza ceasefire plan

Hamas conditionally accepted Trump’s ceasefire plan, but disagreements over disarmament and Israeli withdrawal remain unresolved.

Hamas announced Friday it would accept President Donald Trump’s ceasefire proposal with conditions, as the plan drew support from Arab governments and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The U.S.-backed framework would secure the release of Israeli hostages and end the two-year Gaza war that has left much of the enclave in ruins. Trump warned Hamas earlier in the week that he would give Israel his “full backing to finish the job of destroying the threat of Hamas” if it rejected the deal.

The 20-point plan requires Hamas to release all hostages within 72 hours and eventually disarm, while Israel withdraws troops in phases under international monitoring. Hamas officials, however, criticized the plan as vague and biased toward Israel, insisting full Israeli withdrawal must precede a hostage handover. With most Arab states now backing Trump’s initiative, the group faces mounting isolation.
