Ukrainians are praising Melania Trump for reportedly convincing her husband, former U.S. President Donald Trump, to take a firmer stance against Vladimir Putin. During a Monday press conference, Trump revealed that the first lady played a critical role in shifting his view on Russia.
“I go home, I tell the First Lady: I spoke with Vladimir today. We had a wonderful conversation,” Trump said. “She said: Really? Another city was just hit.”
The comment sparked a wave of support on Ukrainian social media, where users hailed Melania as “Agent Trumpenko,” sharing edited images of her in Ukrainian military gear and memes praising her intervention.
Although Melania has mostly remained politically quiet, she previously voiced support for Ukraine in 2022 during Russia’s initial invasion.
Following the revelation, Trump reportedly asked Ukrainian President Zelensky whether Ukraine could strike Moscow and St. Petersburg, and warned Russia of “severe tariffs” if Putin fails to reach a ceasefire within 50 days.
