LONDON — Arsenal legend Sol Campbell has called on the club to provide an explanation for the reported £52 million signing of Noni Madueke, following a fan petition against the move. Campbell’s comments come as a segment of the Gunners’ faithful expresses strong disapproval over the acquisition of the former Chelsea winger.
Fans reportedly initiated the petition demanding answers from the club’s hierarchy regarding the rationale behind such a significant investment in Madueke, given his recent performance and the team’s perceived needs. Campbell, a former defender for the club, emphasized the importance of transparency and communication between the club and its supporters.

Mikel Arteta‘s side have agreed a £52million deal with Chelsea to sign the England international, who gave the green light to the move last week.
It comes after more than 2700 Arsenal fans signed a petition to voice their displeasure at signing the former PSV winger.
And Gunners legend Campbell believes the club should provide clarity over how Madueke will fit into the team, though he believes the 23-year-old will be a good addition to the squad.
‘I’ve seen him play, and he’s a very dynamic, keep-going kind of player that can cause problems when he gets into the final third,’ Campbell told the Metro.
‘I think most people are probably thinking, “Do we need him?”. He’s a quality player, but I think the club needs to explain why they’re getting certain players in and how it’s going to fit into our system..
‘It’s important to explain that to the players and the fans.’
On the surface, Madueke would currently make a great rotation option for Arsenal at both left and right wing, and a he still has room to develop.
However, there had also been doubts over the player’s discipline, having been twice left out by Chelsea, one of which came over a reported poor training performance.
