A Vice Principal at Complete Child Development College, Aule, Akure, Mr. Rotifa, was assaulted by suspected thugs allegedly hired by the mother of a student, after he confiscated a phone used for exam malpractice during the ongoing WASSCE.

The phone belonged to SS3 student Wisdom Elisa. Following a confrontation with the school management, the student’s mother allegedly instigated threats against the Vice Principal.

Later that day, the student’s brother—an alumnus—returned with others to intimidate Mr. Rotifa. He reported the threats to police, who accompanied him in search of the suspects. However, on their return, the group ambushed the police van, forcibly removed and assaulted Mr. Rotifa.

He was hospitalised but later discharged. According to the school principal, he has not returned home due to safety concerns.

The Ondo State Ministry of Education condemned the attack, pledged improved school security, and confirmed an investigation is underway to apprehend those responsible.
