Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah unveiled the new 300-bed Enugu International Hospital, aiming to curb medical tourism. “We want to have a good chunk of that market,” Mbah stated, emphasizing the hospital’s role in retaining healthcare spending within Nigeria.
The initiative is part of a plan to make Enugu a continental medical hub, offering advanced care and attracting top professionals to reduce the significant expenditure Nigerians incur on overseas treatments, data from the Central Bank of Nigeria shows millions are spent annually.
