Tinubu urges governors to prioritize citizens over flyover projects

President Tinubu has urged state governors to stop constructing flyovers where traffic doesn’t justify them and instead focus on roads and infrastructure that improve citizens’ quality of life.

Tinubu Tells Governors: Stop Building Unnecessary Flyovers

Tinubu wants governors to rethink their priorities. Speaking in Abuja, per TheCable, while receiving Oyo traditional rulers led by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the president said state allocations have quadrupled since he and Ladoja served as governors, meaning no state now needs to borrow to pay salaries.

He urged governors to build roads and artery networks instead of “flying over where there is no numeric traffic,” stressing this would boost accessibility for security agencies. Tinubu also said his administration is strengthening security at the local level through state police and enhanced forest guard capacity, calling on traditional rulers to help tackle insecurity.
