The Department of State Services has issued an intelligence alert warning that Boko Haram terrorists are planning major coordinated attacks in Michika and Askira Uba local government areas of Adamawa and Borno states following the reported collapse of a ceasefire agreement with the state governments.
Fresh fears have emerged in parts of Adamawa and Borno states following an intelligence alert by the Department of State Services (DSS) warning that Boko Haram terrorists are planning major operations in Michika and Askira Uba local government areas after the reported collapse of a ceasefire arrangement with the two state governments.
Sahara Reporters reports that the warning was contained in an intelligence communication dated July 27, 2026, and addressed to the Brigade Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade, Nigerian Army, Yola, Adamawa State.
The document, referenced 0.211/3827, was signed on behalf of the Adamawa State Director of Security by Ben Osifor.
According to the DSS, intelligence indicates that the insurgents intend to launch coordinated attacks in the affected areas. “Intelligence has revealed plans by Boko Haram terrorists to carry out major operations around Michika LGA, and Askira Uba LGA in Adamawa and Borno States, respectively to register the collapse of ceasefire agreement with the state governments,” the document stated.
The intelligence report warned that the terrorists were planning to abduct prominent government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders and residents during the operations.
“The terrorists planned to abduct high government officials, councilors, district heads, pastors and locals residing in the LGAs. Furthermore, the terrorist elements are targeting to kidnap district head of Michika alongside his son, who stays in his residence,” it said.
According to the DSS, the insurgents have already begun preparations for the planned attacks. “Already, the terrorists have deployed surveillance team in preparation for the planned attack,” the report added.
In response, the DSS urged the military and local security volunteers to strengthen security across the affected communities. “It is advised that troops in collaboration with forest guards and hunters beef up security measures around the LGA, with a view to preventing the planned operations by the terrorists,” the agency advised.
The intelligence report was forwarded to the Nigerian Army for its information and necessary action amid renewed concerns over Boko Haram activities in parts of the North-East.
