Maj. Hamza Al-Mustapha (retd.), former CSO to late Head of State Gen. Sani Abacha, has dismissed as false the account given by ex-DSS operative Dennis Amachree on the circumstances of Abacha’s death.
AL-MUSTAPHA DENIES ABACHA DEATH ACCOUNT
Former Chief Security Officer to late Head of State Gen. Sani Abacha, Maj. Hamza Al-Mustapha (retd.), has rejected claims by ex-DSS operative Dennis Amachree about Abacha’s final moments, Punch reports.
Speaking to journalists at the 3rd General Hassan Usman Katsina Memorial Conference in Kaduna on Saturday, Al-Mustapha described Amachree’s account, contained in his memoir “The Shadow Warrior,” as fabricated.
He claimed to possess CCTV footage contradicting the narrative but did not elaborate further. Abacha died at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on June 8, 1998, under circumstances that remain a subject of ongoing controversy.
