The Nyesom Wike faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has taken over the party’s state secretariat in Ibadan. This action follows a Supreme Court judgment recognizing the Wike-led faction as the authentic one. Party chairman Rahman Akinoso stated the takeover signifies reclaiming the party’s soul and will serve as a hub for renewed political activities and strategy sessions.
The Wike faction plans grassroots mobilization and has activated party structures for the 2027 governorship election. The secretariat was previously controlled by the Governor Seyi Makinde faction, who has since formed an alliance with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
