Police in Bayelsa State have arrested three staff members of the Ministry of Labour, Empowerment and Productivity for allegedly stealing government equipment worth over N500 million.

The suspects, Wadi Igiran, Nikade Sunday and Azabia Yakie, are accused of stealing items including a 110 KVA Perkins generator, a forklift and lathe machines, according to Daily Trust. Police spokesperson DSP Musa Mohammed said the theft was discovered during an official inspection on June 22, prompting a discreet investigation that led to the arrests.
All three suspects have reportedly confessed, and the forklift has been recovered. Separately, police confirmed the arrest of two suspects, Daniel Tarila and Peres Daniel, for vandalising the Angiama Oporoma bridge, with investigations ongoing in both cases.
