Two Arrested Over Mid-Air Smoking Panic on Air Peace Flight
A quiet flight from South Africa turned chaotic mid-air on July 9. Police say passengers Enaruna Prince Aghama, 51, and Tony Ajayi, 43, lit cigarettes aboard an Air Peace aircraft, setting off the plane’s smoke detection and emergency alarm system and rattling passengers and crew, reports Daily Post.
The pair were also found with alcohol and allegedly turned hostile when cabin crew tried to intervene. On landing at Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport, they were handed to airport police for investigation. Commissioner Ogunbode Olufunke condemned the incident, calling it a threat to aviation safety, and confirmed both men will be arraigned in court.
