Yoruba nation activist Sunday Igboho says his security outfit, working with police, has rescued a kidnapped Oyo woman and her son in Kwara State following a gun battle with their abductors.
IGBOHO RESCUES KIDNAPPED OYO WOMAN, SON IN KWARA
Igboho, founder of the Iru Ekun Security Network, disclosed on Saturday that his team, alongside the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force, engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle in the early hours of the day, freeing Adijat Kubura Aliqlas and her son, Abdulmalik, according to a statement forwarded to The PUNCH.
The three-day operation relied on intelligence gathering and tracking, with the abductors lured using a ransom arrangement before being ambushed in a forest near Bode Sadu, Kwara State. The kidnappers fled with bullet wounds, abandoning their captives, who were later located after rescuers heard them shouting for help.
The victims are receiving treatment at Igboho General Hospital. Igboho credited the operation’s success to support from Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu, who coordinated with police commissioners in Kwara and Niger states. He urged Nigerians to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.
