AKARA DEFENSE
An APC youth has defended First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s advice on petty trading, saying it’s better for women to sell akara than be tagged prostitutes.
According to Punch, he spoke at a press conference in Abuja called to address the purported replacement of Adamu Tanko in Niger State’s Gurara Federal Constituency.
He argued that selling kuli-kuli was preferable to being labelled a “hookup girl” or “sugar mum,” and cited the First Lady’s donations to tuberculosis, malnutrition and cancer causes as evidence of her broader empowerment record.
The First Lady’s earlier akara remarks had triggered backlash over perceived trivialisation of economic hardship.
