Oyo State has revised its academic calendar, with public schools set to resume on July 6 following the suspension of a month-long teachers’ strike.
OYO SCHOOLS REOPEN
The Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has adjusted the 2025/2026 academic calendar, confirming that public primary and secondary schools will resume on July 6.
According to The PUNCH, the revised schedule was announced in a circular signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. B.T. Oyinloye.
The ministry said the resumed academic term will run for six weeks, ending on August 14, followed by a four-week holiday from August 17 to September 11. The 2026/2027 first term is scheduled to begin on September 14.
The calendar review follows the suspension of a month-long Nigeria Union of Teachers strike triggered by the abduction of teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area.
