President Bola Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, has described Peter Obi’s call for the President’s resignation as ‘childish and an unwarranted distraction.’ Onanuga stated that Obi’s comparison to the British parliamentary system is misplaced, as Nigeria operates under a presidential system with fixed terms. He emphasized that Tinubu’s party recently secured victories in local elections, indicating popular support.
The spokesperson also defended Tinubu’s administration’s progress in security and the economy, citing improved GDP growth, increased foreign reserves, and significant security operations. Onanuga criticized Obi’s assessment as simplistic and detached from Nigerian realities.
