Several suspects have been arrested after a mob stormed a police station in Kaduna State and lynched a woman accused of child theft, police authorities have confirmed.
According to reports by Premium Times, the drama began on Saturday when officers responded to reports of an angry crowd attacking a woman in Maraban Jos. Police rescued her and placed her in protective custody while investigating the allegation, which had not been substantiated.
Hours later, hundreds of residents reportedly besieged the station, overpowered officers, seized the woman and killed her before setting her body ablaze. Police described the attack as a grave assault on the rule of law, while Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad warned against jungle justice and vowed that all perpetrators would face prosecution.
