2027 Polls: INEC releases election timetable

The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election will hold on February 20, 2027, in accordance with the 2022 Electoral Act.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday released the timetable for the 2027 general elections in line with the provisions of the 2022 Electoral Act. The announcement was made during a news conference held at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

Chairman of the commission, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed that the presidential election is scheduled to take place on February 20, 2027. He said the timetable was carefully structured to comply with statutory requirements and to ensure adequate preparations for the polls.

The commission noted that further details regarding other categories of elections and key milestones in the electoral process would be communicated in due course, as stakeholders begin preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
