16-year-old girl delivers grandfather’s baby boy – DNA test confirms

A DNA test has confirmed that a 16-year-old girl’s grandfather, Musa Gado, is the biological father of her newborn son following a case reported to the Child Rights Protection and Enforcement Agency.

A 16-year-old girl has given birth to a baby boy whose paternity has been legally confirmed as belonging to her grandfather, Musa Gado, following a DNA test. The case was brought to light on October 5, 2025, when the teenager’s father and a community leader reported the abuse to the Child Rights Protection and Enforcement Agency. According to officials, the victim was six months pregnant at the time of the report and had survived a failed abortion attempt allegedly orchestrated by Gado, who reportedly pressured her to terminate the pregnancy using various drugs and injections.

The Director-General of the agency, Barrister Uma Mohammed, confirmed on Tuesday that both the young mother and her infant remain in protective custody. To establish the facts of the case, the agency facilitated a DNA test at a hospital in Gwagwalada, the costs of which were covered by the suspect. The results, which returned a 99.999 per cent probability of paternity, were finalized five weeks after the birth. Following the confirmation, the agency transferred the case to the police, and the suspect is currently being held at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) pending formal prosecution in court.

Highlighting the agency’s commitment to the victim’s welfare, Barrister Mohammed noted that the interest of the child remained the primary focus throughout the investigation. She detailed the procedural steps taken to ensure the mother’s health and the integrity of the evidence. “The result showed a 99.999 per cent probability. After receiving the report, the next step was to forward the case to the police for investigation. The suspect is currently in police custody at the CID, and the matter will be taken to court for prosecution,” she said.
