Tony Elumelu will retire as UBA Group Chairman on August 21, 2026, after completing the maximum 12-year tenure allowed by the CBN, Tribune Online reports.
The bank named Emmanuel Nnorom, a chartered accountant with over 40 years of experience, as his successor, effective the same date. Under Elumelu, UBA expanded across 20 African countries and grew its customer base to over 50 million. The Board praised his “visionary leadership,” while Elumelu expressed confidence in Nnorom’s ability to lead.
Nnorom pledged to sustain UBA’s momentum and continue delivering value to shareholders and stakeholders.
