A 15-year-old APC aspirant has withdrawn from a Kaduna House of Representatives race after an investigation exposed falsified age claims.
A 15-year-old aspirant, Sadisu Buba Mahmud, has withdrawn from contesting the House of Representatives seat for Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, according to Peoples Gazette.
His withdrawal followed an investigation by Peoples Gazette revealing he falsely claimed to be 30 years old and submitted forged age documents.
In a letter, he stated, “Please accept this letter as formal notification that I am withdrawing from the race… effective immediately.”
He added, “My withdrawal is not a sign of weakness, but a sacrifice for the greater good of the party.”
Findings showed his National Identification Number and birth records indicate he was born in August 2010.
Under Section 65 of Nigeria’s Constitution, candidates must be at least 25 to contest.
