President Bola Tinubu overwhelmingly defeated challenger Stanley Osifo in the APC presidential primary as party leaders and members nationwide endorsed his 2027 re-election bid.
President Bola Tinubu has secured a landslide victory over his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary ahead of the 2027 election.
The exercise, conducted across 8,809 wards nationwide, was largely dominated by endorsements from governors, party leaders and grassroots members backing Tinubu for a second term. Osifo recorded minimal support in most states.
After voting in Ikoyi, Lagos, Tinubu described the exercise as “a demonstration of internal democracy.” He added, “This is politics; grassroots politics, where every member of the party has a right to participate.”
Results from states including Bayelsa, Rivers, Gombe, Edo and Osun showed overwhelming victories for the President.
Meanwhile, the opposition Atiku Abubakar-backed ADC continues to battle internal disagreements over its presidential ticket ahead of Monday’s primary.
