Igboho Reveals How He Escaped 2021 DSS Raid
He never left the house — but the DSS never found him either. According to Tribune Online, Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho has recounted how he escaped arrest during the July 2021 DSS raid on his Ibadan residence, saying he remained hidden inside throughout the operation.
Igboho said operatives shot at his room, blew open the door with dynamite, and even killed a cat mistaking it for him, before bringing in a “fake herbalist” to perform rituals to locate him. He denied claims he turned into a cat to escape, insisting a Muslim clerics’ prayer session saved him.
He said prayers by visiting clerics protected him from a “bad vision” they had foreseen. The DSS raid, which occurred amid rising tension with the Buhari-era government, led to the deaths of two aides and the arrest of 13 associates. Igboho later fled Nigeria and remains in exile in Benin Republic.
