A 25-year-old University of Jos graduate, Ibrahim Mbaya, has died after being beaten by students who accused him of stealing an iPhone, prompting the arrest of three suspects.

A 25-year-old University of Jos graduate, Ibrahim Mbaya, popularly known as “Ibee,” has been allegedly killed by students over claims of phone theft, Daily Trust reports.
The incident occurred Sunday at an off-campus apartment near City of David along Ring Road, Jos. A viral video showed suspects beating Mbaya with planks and canes after he was suspected of stealing an iPhone belonging to a friend he had lodged with overnight.
Plateau Police say they received a report after Mbaya was brought unconscious to JUTH; he was confirmed dead on arrival. Three suspects, Rinji Daniel Fwanji, Emmanuel Newyear, and Nensemka Fwanji, have been arrested and are undergoing further investigation at the state CID.
